My String Art

Hello!

Recently, I was inspired to create my own string art (you can read about it here). I decided to take on something simple to begin with - a heart.

It was pretty easy to create - I purchased a pack of cork floor tiles from Bunnings for $12 (I used two of the other ones for another project).

I painted the tile white with acrylic paint and a roller. I printed a heart on to two sheets of A4 paper and then stuck them on to the cork tile. I then began pushing the nails in to the cork. I used a pencil as a 'spacer'. I used a small screw in the centre - it is a bit stronger than the very small nails.

Then comes the fun part - attaching the string! Pretty easy - just wind the floss around the nails. I purchased DMC floss from Spotlight. I needed about three lots.

Voila! Very inexpensive and interesting art.

What do you think? I think it looks great on my new bookcase.

My Lounge

Well it is the official last day of my holidays. Boo! Back to work tomorrow...

Ikea Madness

I have been very busy on my holidays, mainly assembling flat packed furniture.

I thought I would share with you some progress photos of my entertainment unit/bookshelf.

I thought I would finally post the photos I took a while ago of my kitchen styled.

I love the clean lines of my kitchen. It's small, but is very functional. I love all my accessories - it makes me happy when I'm cooking!

Mexican Fiesta!

Happy Sunday night readers,

On the weekend, I had some work friends over for a mini house warming. It was mexican themed!

The food was pretty fantastic, I must say. I made fajita nachos, stuffed mushrooms, tortillas with chorizo salsa and a layered dip. Sorry no photos unfortunately - I was way too busy having fun!

However, here is a couple of photos of how I decorated (they are a little dodgy - taken very quickly before the guests arrived!).

Hello!

I finally have blinds installed in my house. Thank god - I was so sick of tying dodgy curtains everyday!

What do you think? I have loved the Ikea canvas forever and even though it has been done alot, I still wanted it. The grey was the base colour of the room. I then worked everything around that. I wanted to add a pop of colour and the red cushions are perfect!

I have an addiction!

Ok - my name is Kobie and I have a serious problem...I'm keep purchasing cushions! It was just a slight slip on the keyboard...and next thing I know I have purchased the following -

While I'm being honest, I also some addiction issues with - dry white wine, Ben and Jerry's Half-baked Cookie Dough ice-cream, strawberry daiquiris, oil burners and anything remotely looking like chocolate.

Hmm - I could go a cocktail now!

My Bathroom

I can finally reveal a completed room in my new house. The bathroom! Now - this room is very small - the photos were very difficult to take!

New Mirror

Happy Friday peeps!

I just wanted to share with you my new mirror for my bedroom.

Not very exciting from the outside....but -

Look on the inside! I have all of my jewelry stored safely behind the mirror. It even locks for safe keeping! Completely awesome, no?

The mirror/jewelry storage is from House. I got it on sale for $200. Money well spent I'd say!

No, not really. BUT - I can shove succulents in some cool timber pots.

Easy peasy - hopefully I won't kill them any time soon.

BTW- the pots are originally from Indonesia bought at a local homewares store. The rocks and succulents are from Bunnings.
