To market to market...

I have been flat out this week preparing for my very first market stall on 19th September. I am supposed to be on holidays, but I have managed to squeeze in lunch, a haircut and some shopping.
I'm finding that prepping for a market is very different to making odd items to sell on etsy. I trying to put more thought in to the merchandising of my products. I need to really attract buyers to my stall. I've also been thinking a lot about my 'brand'. I think 'Chic Girl Designs' has a very clear market and I'm trying really hard to match my 'products' to my brand. Pricing is also something I'm thinking about. On etsy, I generally just price in comparison to similar products. At a market though, I need to take in to consideration - my time designing and making the products, the cost of the product to make, the cost of the stall and my time at the stall. Very complicated! I don't want to overprice, but I don't want to sell myself short either.
So much to think about!
All of my coasters lined up...ready to be packaged!

My promotion flyer for the markets!

The link to Poppyseed Markets Facebook page is here. Once I have packaged some of my items I'll post some more photos. I'd love some feedback!

  1. I wish you great success at your first market!

I have "Handmade" banners for sale in my shop which makes a booth stand out. So many shows have mass produced items and letting people see from 20 feet away that your items are handmade draws shoppers in.

Today we are setting up for a 3 day outdoor event. My car is loaded and I'll be heading out in a couple of hours :-) Fun!!! :-)

  2. Wow, there are so much things you need to re-consider in matter of the pricing adjustment and marketing methods in actual stall than in the virtual one O_o

All the best to your first market and hope you have a wonderful time from it :D

p/s: The flyer is really lovely!
